If

If I had died yesterday

And was born again tomorrow,

The flowers would bloom

And there wouldn’t be sorrow.

The grass would be green

And the sky would be blue,

The day would be fresh

And the night would be new.

If I had died yesterday,

Yet was born again tomorrow;

The only part I’d take with me,

Is you, and leave the sorrow.

I’d close the door behind us

Your hand, I’d take in mine

I’d whisper softly that I love you

And tell you we’ll be fine. ©
