Lone Stallion

In the Outeniqua mountains, way up on Mythril Hill

There stood a lone stallion with a strong and fiery will

Across the meadow yonder, but not too far away

In a paddock fit for grazing, he saw a mare that day.

Oh lone stallion, wild and free

Roaming the hills with dignity

Lone stallion, wild and free

Roaming the hills in solitary

And with a sound that filled the air

The stallion reared and called to the mare

She replied with saddened eyes

Her freedom was one she could not disguise.

Oh lone stallion, wild and free

This is the life ‘twas meant to be

Lone stallion, wild and free

Your spirit would break in captivity.

The stallion tossed his ebony mane

He knew this love was all in vain

The mare, she bowed and turned away

Bid him fond farewell with a gentle neigh

Oh lone stallion, wild and free

Roaming Mythril Hill

Lone stallion, wild and free

Strong and fiery still.©
